My name is Deen Freelon, and this is my personal website. I’m the Allan Randall Freelon Sr. Professor in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, and an empirical researcher of political communication who focuses on digital politics. Lately I’ve been interested in mis/disinformation, conspiracy theories, hyperpartisan content, ideological asymmetry, identity politics, and personalized information environments. As a member of the computational social science community, I write a fair amount of code for data analysis (mostly in R and Python), and I sometimes release some of it on an open-source basis.
The site’s main menu is on your right. I generally don’t do a great job of keeping this site up to date; in particular, Google Scholar does a better job of keeping track of my latest research than I do.
